- Verify/document patient health history and educate patients about oral hygiene/health/disease as well as procedures and services offered.
- Perform clinical hygiene functions including, but not limited to: exposing/evaluating diagnostic x-rays, taking and recording blood pressure, adult/child prophylaxis, non-surgical periodontal therapy, and co-assessing possible restorative treatments with the doctor.
- Determine needs and perform sealant placement, Arestin, and fluoride treatments as needed.

The Assistant Practice Manager (APM) is responsible for assisting the Practice Manager in the day-to-day operations of the dental practice, ensuring that proper procedures and protocols are being followed. The APM will help to ensure that the office is staffed with capable, trained, self-motivated team members and doctors, who understand and uphold the practice’s shared purpose and vision, as demonstrated by their actions. Additionally, the APM will have the full authority to act in place of the Practice Manager when not present.
- Works to foster a strong working relationship among staff members and assists Practice Manager to address concerns
- Works with Practice Manager on recruitment, training, onāboarding, team development, retention, and performance management
- Ensures key performance metrics for successfully managing a practice; forecast results; ensure all budget and production expectations are met or exceeded; ensure financial data and records are balanced; responsible for practice passing all financial audits
- Respond efficiently to patient and doctor needs and inquiries
- Ensure the delivery of quality dental care to patients
- Ensures that all areas of the dental practice are customer-ready
- Monitors schedule to effectively schedule staff
- Assist Practice Manager with completion and submittal of HR and payroll related documents accurately and timely as required including new hire and termination forms and all changes for employees; have employees verify and sign their own payroll time sheets
- In conjunction with Practice Manager conducts regular staff meetings and daily morning huddles; seizes opportunities to foster communication, provide organization and practice updates, share information, teach and continually challenge and develop staff
- Resolve patient issues in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Regularly check in with providers to maintain an open line of communication and ensure our goals are aligned
- Work with Practice Manager to ensure quarterly rocks are on track
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by Practice Manager and Partner Doctors to achieve practice/organization goals
Administrative
- Serves as on-sight HIPAA contact person
- Help maintain accountability within the clinical and administrative teams by following up on daily tasks assigned to individual team members.
- Mediate discussions with staff members when concerns arise
- Assist in delegating tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner
- Understand and be able to complete Revenue Cycle reports and tasks to increase efficiency and help the office achieve its goals
- Assist Practice Manager in handling disciplinary actions with team members
- Work alongside clinical leads to track progress of their quarterly rocks
- Track and follow up with financing approvals (Sunbit) to help secure treatment
- Gather Axle feedback to properly submit tickets and follow up with support team
Marketing
- In an effort attract new patients and educate on speciality services, assists in marketing and practice promotion activities. This may include attending events outside of normal, office operating hours.
- Provides marketing support by serving as a media liaison, monitoring our social media accounts and respond to patient messages and comments. This includes Facebook and Instagram.
- Explore and propose new marketing opportunities available in our community
Training
- Working alongside Practice Manager to gain a better understanding of the inner workings of the office and organization in its entirety
- Review daily, weekly, and monthly reports to learn their purpose and how our daily performance has long-term relevance
- Take opportunities to learn from Practice Manager in order to be able to perform all Practice Manager tasks
- Participates in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

- Provides chairside support during clinical sessions, assist Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS) with treating and monitoring patients during OMFS procedures, including but not exclusively, IV sedation cases – including pre-assessment, starting IV infusion, intra-operative monitoring, post procedure monitoring and discharge of the patient to home
- Provides education instruction for patients and families
- Will maintain and record patient information, prepare and maintain the clinical environment, monitors and reassure patients undergoing dental/OMFS treatment, and provide advice to patients and refer clinical questions to Oral Surgeon
- Complete follow-up phone calls to patients
- Must complete moderate sedation competency
- Will have accountability for Performance Improvement Activity and Nurse activity
- Will work with Dental Assistant Team and Oral Surgeon

- Measure, track and speak to Revenue Cycle scorecard numbers (KPI) for your assigned locations
- Respond to all communication from other Revenue Cycle Management members and Practice Managers in a timely manner with required detail
- Assist in ensuring practice and company collections protocols are followed consistently
